The October 2019 monthly regional tourism estimates (MRTE’s) have now been released by the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.
The Central Otago indicative tourism regional spend continues to track upwards – with an estimated annual total spend year to October 2019 of $215m – up 5% from year to October 2018.
We have uploaded graphs here showing more detailed breakdown of the MRTE data for the Central Otago region and provides an overview of the mix of domestic versus international spend and where the tourism $ is being spent. It is possible to review this data online through this link!
These graphs show that Central Otago continues to have a strongly domestic visitor market, and that visitor spend contributes to the region’s wider economy – with the bulk of spend on non-tourism related items.
The MRTE’s provide an estimate of regional monthly expenditure on tourism from both international and domestic consumers including cash and online spending, and excluding GST.
